The immense, unfelt joy of Jesus to know that what came to Him as agony was bringing all His fellows into the Father's arms. And that is what we must live to validate that joy of His: we must not make His passion appear wasted. The joy of Jesus in having "done" it, ("consummatum est") demands that we let Him do it, and take his joy into our own actual living. So all the heartache, dearest daughter, the failure and weariness, all are the condition of His joy, in us as in Him on the Cross.
