. . . let your sense of your poverty be a feast for Jesus. As you say, you can only see the ugliness because He is gleaming on you. How we hate to see it - and yet how can we be translucified in Him if we don't know we are dark? He comes running with the bounding joy of a Lover when we turn away from ourselves and hold out suffering hearts to Him. I would only be anxious about you if you saw yourself pure and lovely - let Him see what there is of that and let yourself be humbly glad you see the murk that calls out to be cleansed . . .
